Little adventures in nature, sketching and slow creative days ~ Sunray Sister

The weeks seem to be flying by this month… and the rain seems to be never ending! How are things with you?

On Monday I went on my second official ‘Artist’s Date’, this time on a walk along the canal, where I spotted a majestic heron and did a quick sketch of it before it hid behind a tree, and then soared off down the canal. I have walked this route a few times in the past, but nature always shows me something new and beautiful. Towards the end of the walk I also met a few llamas and sketched them too!

On the way back home, I took a short diversion to ‘Kitty’s Vintage Emporium’; a crazy warehouse stuffed with treasures and junk and everything in between! The best kind of place! Sometimes it’s fun to just look at all these old things, and wonder about their past lives, and be inspired by the designs from bygone eras.

“If you love beauty, it’s because beauty lives within you. If you love art, it’s because you are creative. If it wakes up your heart, a receptor for it already exists within you. Your soul is drawn to the things that will help you unfold your most glorious expression. Give in.” ~ Cynthia Occelli

The day before, I went to a local open garden with Fraz. It was the sweetest garden you can imagine, nestled in a little valley near Flash, the highest village in the country. The garden actually reminded me a lot of my parents’ garden. After having a good look around, we stopped on the lawn for a cup of tea, accompanied by vegan meringues and ginger bread. Yum! Later on I did some quick drawings from photos I took; stay tuned for that and my artist’s date sketches on my Instagram soon.

The rest of the week has been filled with my ‘part-time freelance jobs’, and in between that my usual things: daily walks and yoga, reading, writing, sketching, making collages and finally starting to paint again! And of course a lot of planning, and endless ideas.

Next week is the ‘Strawberry’ full moon in Sagittarius! I finally saw her last night after so many cloudy days; the rain subsided for a while, and there she was, the lovely moon, almost at her peak!

Of course that also means my next love letter will be out on Monday. I like to send the newsletter out on the full moon exact, so this time it will be 09:30 GMT; make sure you’re signed up before then! You will receive lots of love, inspiration and recommendations, an exclusive downloadable freebie and discount code for my Etsy shop.

I’m really enjoying sharing these sweet and simple weekly updates with you, they feel a lot more real and authentic compared to the article-style posts that I’ve published in the past. I’m especially excited to write to you again next week as it’s the Summer Solstice on Friday. So much to celebrate this coming week, and hopefully that will include the return of warmer, sunnier days.

Until next time, I hope you have a lovely week, and stay creative!

Peace and love,

Rachel x
