Fresh Start Playlist // Playtime 6 // featuring Elbow and Badly Drawn Boy

Welcome to episode six of Playtime! If you are new here, click that link to see the previous five posts, all with YouTube playlists and illustrations by me.

For a change I gave this edition of Playtime a theme, and a kind of story line! It is inspired by the new year, time, fresh starts, dreams and hope.

The first few songs represent New Year’s eve, one night. Then the following morning/day is shown by the next few songs. The songs after that are about looking ahead and wanting tomorrow to come, possibly too soon. And finally the last few songs are about having hope for the future, or just songs which represent good feelings for me.

Below is my illustration/sketchbook page with the song titles and artists, and underneath that is the YouTube playlist. Hit play and enjoy the beautiful music!

Playtime #5: Christmas special featuring Joni Mitchell and The Darkness!

Jolly greetings sisters! As a special treat for this edition of Playtime, I have picked out some alternative Christmas songs and put them into a festive playlist just for you. I even made a slightly bizarre vintage collage, (did you see my previous post with some slightly better collages!?)

Hit play on the YouTube link below and feel all warm and fuzzy in this chilly, wet weather.

What songs are on your Christmas playlist? (Don’t get me wrong though, I love a bit of Wizzard and Mariah Carey too! And I don’t believe in ‘guilty pleasures’.)

I only have a few posts left for you before I take a well-earned Christmas break! You also have until midday tomorrow (Saturday) to grab my super cool Christmas cards in my Etsy shop: you will find a pack of three printed designs from original watercolour paintings, and smaller hand printed cards with handmade brooches! Get them while you can.

This weekend I will be adding the finishing touches to my Christmas gifts while blasting out some festive tunes. Remember not to get caught up in the consumerist stresses and unhealthy habits of the season though sisters; this is a time of year to be grateful, switch off and feel loved. You are wonderful! See you on Sunday for a post about new year goals.

Peace and love,

Playtime #4: featuring Massive Attack and Laura Marling

Episode four of playtime is here: a mixtape from me to you, complete with handwritten list and abstract painting! This time my choices are mainly current tunes with some older songs sprinkled in, all of which are quickly becoming new favourites; basically all the songs stuck in my head right now. The list begins with Laura Marling’s beautiful new song, ‘Soothing’, which is now on repeat, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Enjoy, and as always send me your cool recommendations!

Playtime #3: featuring St. Vincent and Grimes

Welcome to episode three of my regular music playlist series! This time my song selections are female fronted, electronic, pop-y beauties, which are great for a little living-room boogie. So get out of your Friday sofa slump and get up and groove, because you’ve got those moves! (Also some of these music videos are a little on the bizarre side, but we like that).

As always, I have created a collage-pen-watercolour illustration of the songs and artists in the list, with a YouTube playlist below. Enjoy!
